Cars of the Autobahn

You are invited to the 2022 Virginia Festival of the Wheel where some of the finest automobiles in the Commonwealth and beyond will be on display August 28, 2022 to raise funds in support of the UVA Cancer Center Patient Fund.

The 2022 theme is “Cars of the Autobahn” and features classes for Porsche, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz with perhaps a separate open class for Karmann-Ghia, Opel, and VW if there is enough demand. The special guest for 2022 is Hurley Haywood, famed road racing endurance driver.

There will also be classes for American Sports, American Post-War Production Cars, British Sports Cars, Classic Pre-War, Foreign Sports Cars, Foreign Production Cars, Vintage Race Cars and two new classes, Custom Cruisers of the Fifties and Sixties and Vintage Motorcycles.

Our intent is to have a first-class event with a distinctive “German flair” to reflect the engineering and styling of the German sports car. We would encourage owners of fine example cars German Sports to submit applications. These are not exhibition classes but are an integral part our event.

If your car does not qualify for the Concours, there is also a planned “Hagerty Cars and Coffee” on Saturday morning, August 27 for other classic and significant cars to participate in.

Even if you don’t participate with your vehicle, come join us for a celebration of the German Sports Car! Spectator tickets are now on sale and the event is fun for the whole family.
